Here is the most recent layout of ‘You Make My Days Brighter’ I changed it slightly as the challenge that I participated in thought that it was too much like a pencil sketch than what the challenge was about – a brush made out of a photo – so I erased the pencil filter on the brush of my grandson around my grandsons face and arms and just left the penciling on the singlet.

Final Parting

He knew his hour had come
His time was spent
Weak fingers in his brain
Clutching at the memories grown dim
Come now the searing pain
What has life meant.

He sees the figures, moving in the room
Faint figures like ghosts in gloom
And far away in darkness of the night
He thinks he hears the sound of birds in flight,
Of birds of flight, is this the way his soul will go?
What of his body left so far below?
Of all the things he did, or strived to go.

What of the tender love he had for you?
A tear falls from his pale and fading eye.
It is so sad, this final last goodbye,
This man, once so strong and good and kind
Only to be a memory in your mind.
A smile, a sigh, torn now the golden thread
The link between the living and the dead
God take your hand and lead you where he may
And us to mourn at breaking of the day.
