We walked along the pathway under trees where branches meet,
The golden leaf-lined archway and made carpet for our feet,
The tunnel sheltered us from cold, outside the chill winds blew,
But safe inside the canopy’s gentle rustling waved us through.
Our steps were soundless as we strolled on moistened littered ground,
A magic scene, perfection, tranquility profound
Just two of us with nature’s autumn garden wrapped around,
So hand in hand enthralled by all, a loving kiss was found.
At times a leaf would flutter like a golden butterfly
And dance and twirl to settle waiting next to come from high
And diamond drops of moisture saved from early morning dew
Would splat on nature’s carpet and then disappear from view.
A few more steps and pathway gently curved the end was seen
The outside world is waiting to engulf us back from dream
We pause and say, ‘I love you’, with the message understood,
By all the living cells contained within this alpine wood,
And with a sigh we step outside to stark reality
Prepared to face life’s daily tasks with renewed energy
And thankful of the time to pause and feel so reassured
That though life’s pathway may be rough there are parts that give reward.
I Long for You
‘Tis you that I’ll long for
Long through the night
‘Tis you that I’ll dream of
‘Til the first glimpse of light,
‘Tis you that I’ll wait for
From morning ‘til eve
And you that I’ll love
‘Til love grants us leave
I’m longing for you
All day and all night
I’m desperately waiting
‘Til you’ll share my life
We’ll be together forever
‘Til death do us part
Or the love that we share
Becomes a devilish art
So please come forward
As the love that’s between us
Is an hourglass, with no sand….
Now shall I love you till the bird
Have lost the way to sing,
Until there be no tenderness
Upon the face of spring
And I shall love you till a babe
Shall neither laugh nor cry,
When men no more are wanderers,
And women’s tears are dry
And I shall love you till the trees
Know neither sun nor rain;
When morning brings no mysteries,
And love can leave no pain.
And I shall love you till there be
No grace in hearts of men;
Till a girl’s eye will glow no love-
I’ll love you until then.
